[FAQ] Retrobat [WIP] Ico2 [4] How to select a video intro for Retrobat ?

Edit "retrobat.ini" at the root of your Retrobat installation folder with a text editor (wordpad, notepad or Notepad ++) and modify the lines:
- "PlayVideoIntro="
"PlayVideoIntro=1" play the video when Retrobat is launched.
"PlayVideoIntro=0" stop playing the video when Retrobat starts.

- "VideoFile="RetroBat-intro.mp4""
This line is where is written the name of the video intro file you want to be played and it must be in the "emulationstation\.emulationstation\video" folder

- "VideoLength="
This line is where is specified the duration of the video intro in milliseconds, for example 6.5 seconds = 6500, so "VideoLength=6500"
This value can be less than the duration of your video if you don't want it to be fully played.

[FAQ] Retrobat [WIP] Ico2 [6] How to add games on SCUMMVM Retroarch core ?

/!\ These first steps are optional  /!\

-
Go to Retroarch options like this:

[FAQ] Retrobat [WIP] 110

and select "RETROARCH"

[FAQ] Retrobat [WIP] 211

and go to "Load Core"

[FAQ] Retrobat [WIP] 310

and select "ScummVM"

[FAQ] Retrobat [WIP] 410

and "Start Core"

[FAQ] Retrobat [WIP] 510

you see this gui:

[FAQ] Retrobat [WIP] 810

Clic on "Add Games" and select your ScummVM games to install them.

After the games are installed on ScummVM core, quit the core and Retroarch, and go to your "/roms/scummvm" folder.

/!\ end of optional steps /!\

Your scummvm games must be in separate folders, in the "/roms/scummvm" folder.

- You must display the extensions under windows, like that on windows 10:

[FAQ] Retrobat [WIP] Help111

And in each games folder, create a .txt file with the name of the game, for example The Curse of Monkey Island.txt for The Curse of Monkey Island... Rolling Eyes

In each txt file, insert the id of the corresponding game, which you will find on https://www.scummvm.org/compatibility/

Example, for "The Curse of Monkey Island", inside The Curse of Monkey Island.txt, insert comi

Like that:

[FAQ] Retrobat [WIP] 910

And to finish, rename the *.txt files into *.scummvm file, for example:

The Curse of Monkey Island.txt  ==> The Curse of Monkey Island.scummvm

[FAQ] Retrobat [WIP] Ico2 [7] How to add PS3 game on Retrobat ?

To add a PS3 game, in first you must have configured the RPCS3 emulator located in the "\emulators\rpcs3" folder.

Tutorials to configure it are common on the net. ( install firmware and games, please don't ask for links for these files ...  Mad )

Once the emulator is configured and you have installed and configured your games, AND CHECKED THAT THEY WORK DIRECTLY FROM THE EMULATOR, go to the "\emulators\rpcs3\dev_hdd0\game" folder.
( note that the games in disc format are located in the "\emulators\rpcs3\dev_hdd0\disc" folder )

You should see several folders, some of them usually start with "NPUB" followed by a number, these are the installation folders of your PS3 games.

For example "Scott Pilgim vs. The world: THE GAME" is on folder NPUB30162

The same in the emulator:

[FAQ] Retrobat [WIP] 1DWURdS

- Then go to the "\roms\ps3\" folder

In this folder you will find a file as example: example-to-edit.m3u.txt

Open this file, and you should see this:
[FAQ] Retrobat [WIP] PfLszDx

Replace REPLACEBYGAMEID (underlined in red) by the name of the game folder that you want to add, here in the example, "Scott Pilgim vs The world: THE GAME", so this is NPUB30162 that must be added:

[FAQ] Retrobat [WIP] RPxMeeK
WARNING Exclamation   Be careful, depending on the game, the path to the EBOOT.BIN file can be different, so you maybe need to modify it.

Be careful to upper and lower case, some games for example have a file named Eboot.bin and not EBOOT.BIN

Save the file, and then rename it like in this example,

example-to-edit.m3u.txt becomes Scott Pilgim vs The world THE GAME.m3u

.txt extension changed in .m3u

/!\ You must check (like scummvm) that the files extensions are visible on Windows.
[FAQ] Retrobat [WIP] Help111

If you complete this tutorial, all you need to do now is launching Retrobat and play your PS3 games.cheers

PS: Just one last thing, remember to check these boxes in the settings of the RPCS3 emulator.

[FAQ] Retrobat [WIP] Ico2 [9] How and why to deactivate the automatic configuration of controllers ?

In some cases, it could be possible that your controller is not -yet- compatible with the controller auto configuration system. This system allow you to configure your controllers in EmulationStation and it will be also configured for RetroArch and for some other emulators available in RetroBat (RetroArch, Dolphin...).

If your controller is concerned, then you need to disable the auto configuration and configure manually the inputs for earch emulators.

Open the main menu and go to SYSTEM SETTINGS
[FAQ] Retrobat [WIP] 17ctYnr

then DEVELOPER
[FAQ] Retrobat [WIP] 2EwAhuH

and uncheck AUTOCONFIGURE EMULATORS CONTROLLERS.
[FAQ] Retrobat [WIP] YRAJB9i

Then go to the RETROBAT menu to configure each emulator.
[FAQ] Retrobat [WIP] VwiV52T

For some emulators or game engines (OpenBOR) you will need to go directly in their respective folders, presents in the "./emulators" folder.

[FAQ] Retrobat [WIP] Ico2 [10] What does "AUTO" correspond in the emulators list ?

When you want to choose a different emulator or core to run your games, (see point n° 5 ) in the list there is "AUTO"

[FAQ] Retrobat [WIP] LNZbQJM

AUTO corresponds to the 1st of the list of cores/emulators.

In the case of the example above, AUTO therefore corresponds to "ANGLE / DOLPHIN"

[FAQ] Retrobat [WIP] Ico2 [12] How to access the Retroarch menu?

For whatever reason, you may need to access the Retroarch menu (for systems that use Retroarch ... Laughing ), mostly to change settings.

For example , to create controller configuration for a specific game or system.

[FAQ] Retrobat [WIP] C7CD9BJ

- From the RetroBat configuration menu in the systems list.

Or by launching a game from Retrobat, and when the game is running you have different ways to access the Retroarch menu:

- In game, with the F1 key
- In game, with a controller, use hotkey + B (or A or cross, depending of the buttons overlay on the controller Wink ).

[FAQ] Retrobat [WIP] Ico2 [13] How do I create a specific controller configuration in Retroarch ?

If the configuration of the buttons does not suit you for a game or a system managed by Retroarch, it's possible to make a specific one.

As explained in question n°12, access the menu of Retroarch then select " QUICK MENU "

[FAQ] Retrobat [WIP] HiJ66mI

- Then, further down in the QUICK MENU list, you will find " Controls "

[FAQ] Retrobat [WIP] 8jpwjmZ

In this menu you can configure several controllers, and then assign the new configuration by saving either:

  • For the current game only.
  • For games found in the same folder as the current game.
  • For the current Core ( /!\ be careful ! many systems can use the same Core)

[FAQ] Retrobat [WIP] K78mZCY

This new configuration is used at the time the game is running and take the priority over the default configuration of Retroarch.[/b]

[FAQ] Retrobat [WIP] Ico2 [15] Why there is sound on EmulationStation but not in games ?

You have just installed Retrobat, you have your roms in the corresponding folders, the sound is present in the game selection interface (EmulationStation),
but when you launch a game managed by a Retroarch Core, there is no sound. wtf??  Crying or Very sad

There's a chance that you haven't DirectX installed properly.

Download and install it HERE .

If after the installation, you still have no sound, as explained in question n° 12, go to the Retroarch menu and go to the "Audio" menu

[FAQ] Retrobat [WIP] WbSS18w

- Then in "Output"

[FAQ] Retrobat [WIP] ASvuG8p

- Then in "Audio"

[FAQ] Retrobat [WIP] ZpPE5pO

- Then you can test different audio drivers one by one, until you find the right one when you get sound during games. The "dsound" driver usually works fine.

[FAQ] Retrobat [WIP] Ico2 [18] How to add XBLA games (XBOX360) on Retrobat?

Xbox360 XBLA games (XBox Live Arcade) are presented in the form of a succession of several folders, which end in a file that has no extension.

[FAQ] Retrobat [WIP] Crn5h50

On this example, the XBLA game, Castlevania Symphony of the Night, you can see the path: "CastlevaniaSymphonyoftheNight\58410847\000D0000"

Which leads to the game file named "9F2DAA064D494AA82B43B65362C59E9B89A88F8F58"

So that Retrobat can launch the game, you must create a *.m3u file to be placed at the root of the "\roms\xbox360" folder.

[FAQ] Retrobat [WIP] XPbL69n

- You need to make the extensions visible on Windows. Like this on windows 10:
[FAQ] Retrobat [WIP] Help111

To create this .m3u file, you need to create a text file.

Right click in the "\roms\xbox360" folder

"New" then "Text document"

[FAQ] Retrobat [WIP] MH3x1D9

A file named "New text document.txt" is created, rename it to the name of the XBLA set that you want to add to Retrobat.

For example, CastlevaniaSymphonyoftheNight.txt

Open this file with a text editor, and copy the path that leads to the game file:

"\CastlevaniaSymphonyoftheNight\58410847\000D0000\9F2DAA064D494AA82B43B65362C59E9B89A88F8F58"

[FAQ] Retrobat [WIP] TOXqiTk
Save this file an exit the text editor.

Then rename the .txt file to .m3u

CastlevaniaSymphonyoftheNight.txt  becomes CastlevaniaSymphonyoftheNight.m3u

And it will then be visible in the Retrobat interface.

For these XBLA games, be sure to select, in the game options on EmulationStation, that the game runs with xenia-canary-xbla and not xenia-canary.

Thumb up

[FAQ] Retrobat [WIP] Ico2 [19] How to select a core or a standalone emulator for a game?

Some games on the same system work better with a particular emulator or core, and you want a particular game to be associated with that emulator or core.

For example, you have a MAME game, which runs best with the "MAME 2003 plus" core, but all of your other MAME games work well with the "MAME" core.

So, for this game in particular, you want to choose the MAME 2003 plus core.

Go to the game concerned, press the "Delete" key on your keyboard or "Select" on your controller.

- A menu opens:
[FAQ] Retrobat [WIP] Gsvsnnc
( /!\ the menu may be different depending on the version of EmulationStation you are using).

- Select "ADVANCED GAME CONFIGURATION"

And on the EMULATOR line, select the core or the emulator that interests you and validate.
