Model 2 game can't start

Hello guys!
It's me again

rom was put in /roms/model2
and also tried to put in /emulators/m2emulator/roms
doesn't work either
all rom were tested and run well in standalone m2emu↓


try to run emu directly from emulator folder,it↓
1.shut down(rom put /emulators/m2emulator/roms)
2."there are missing files, load aborted"(rom put /roms/model2)

so,is there any method I can fix this?
Is it rom path issue?cuz I didn't see rom path settings in Emulator.ini which existed in standalone version

Roms have to be placed on \roms\model2\
Don't forget that some games need also parent roms to work.
For exemple Daytona USA '93 Edition (dayton93.zip) need Daytona USA (daytona.zip) in order to start.

As you see, same error as I say on the top question

Are you running V4 or V5 beta ?
It is just for Desert, or all games that you start ?
Can you screen also the \emulators\m2emulator\ folder content ?

V5 beta

can you try to delete the content of the \emulators\m2emulator\ folder.
Then go to the "Retrobat" system, and choose M2emulator to download it again

Still error

by the way,brand new m2emu's NVDATA is tatal empty,and has no CFG folder

I don't no if it makes the emulator files incomplete

There should be data in both sub-folders.
Try to start emulator_multicpu.exe, to see if something change.
At least, you can find them in \system\templates\m2emulator\. Unzip the content of the zip files in their respective folder.

Unzip Done but still can't run any of the rom

and when I try to run the game from here↓

I test the m2emu of retrobat these days
and found it is the d3d9.dll and reshade.ini cause the issue
I tried to delete the 4 files(d3d9.dll d3d9.log Reshade.ini ReShadePreset.ini) then m2emulator can now start the game

Hi I am also having issues with model 2, when I launch a game I just get a black screen or in Daytona it shows the cabinet options then freezes, it had worked perfectly before, I have tried the fixes above

Thanks for your reply, it's been a few months since I used it so maybe new AMD drivers causing issue, I looked at video settings in the emulator but they only contain resolution, I wanted to check if it used open gl or Vulcan

This happens both from Retrobat and directly from the emulator, right ?

Not tried opening ROMs directly from the emulator, but they do load in from retrobat, on Daytona you get the cabinet set up screen but then it freezes, I will have a go in the emulator I just need to set the rom directory to the one in retrobat, I will look later when I am home from work, I believe the M2 emulator is very old and no longer supported by it's developer?

Also try to deactivate decorations and shaders to see what happens...

Hi tried both of those and still the same, be interesting to see what happens with a non AMD sytem

It seems that the M2 emulator opens to launch the game then closes immediately as the game launches,

Maybe you are in the same case as me.

I tried that turned them both from "auto" to "off" still closing down

Does it work when launching without retrobat ?

Do I have to put ROMs in the M2 rom folder, as I clicked on the game list in nothing would start

And is it the multi CPU one or the other ?

Just tried it within the model2 emulator directly.  It works when you delete the d3d9.dll but then EMULATOR.INI file is causing games like Daytona to hang in the menu.  Those two files are the issue. Also this seems to be an Intel and AMD graphics thing? It seems ok on Nvidia.

What do you mean by "hang in the menu" ?
Can you add a screenshot?

But no-one say to delete the "emulator.ini" file.
try to put it back from the folder /system/templates/m2emulator/

Might be your rom that is not correct if it hands in the menu, or your bios

These roms run fine on my nvidia setup with a 3070, just now no longer working on my intel surface pro 9.

Ill try another rom from a fresh source but that said, the roms I already have work fine when used in the m2 emulator downloaded separate from retrobat.

It's an Intel XE graphics issue I think.  The newer chips now only emulate DirectX9 and has issues with some older games and specifically the reshade within the d3d9.dll file, so you need a workaround for anything other than Nvidia.

So to fix for Intel (and AMD graphics?) :

Just turn off all decorations and shaders for the Model 2 emulator within Retrobat as tartifless already kindly suggested.

Set AutoMip to 0 in the Emulator.ini file.
