Hi
I'm trying to figure out how to run DSi Ware games through retrobat and having a hard time. I am trying to play Shantae: Risky Revenge I have the game working in the standalone melonDS emulator after obtaining the proper bios files.

How to I configure melonDS within retroarch to function the same?

Hello,

Did you try simply copying the same bioses in the retrobat\bios folder and running the game ?

What are the game extensions ?

I don't know if the MelonDS core from retroarch is able to run DSI Ware games, you'll need to test different methods.

Ya I did drag and drop the required bios files as well as the NAND file in the bios folder. It does not work. The game is .nds format so it's like a normal DS game. But like the reddit post I just get white screens in retroarch. But in the standalone emulator I can run the game after configuring the bios files and NAND file correctly.

I was hoping there was a way to configure the retroarch core to work the same way. Perhaps not

Check the retroarch core options file in the emulators\retroarch folder, and look for the options of the melonds core.
There should be a console or type or console type option...

Hello,

I was able to boot in the DSi firmware, now i need a game to test...

What i did:
1) Copy the following files in the bios\ folder :
- dsi_bios7.bin
- dsi_bios9.bin
- dsi_firmware.bin
- dsi_nand.bin

2) in the retroarch "retroarch-core-options.cfg" file, change the following lines:
melonds_boot_directly = "disabled"
melonds_console_mode = "DSi"

3) run any game, this made me boot in the DS bios screen, where i guess it should be possible to run DSI games

We'll add these 2 switches in the Retrobat interface.

One question, once in the bios, how do you actually run the game ?

Would you be able to tell me what method you use to install games to the nand ? A specific tool or standalone melonds ?

So basically once you change the config file you can run the dsi ware game like normal but it will bring up the DSi menu instead. From there you select the game and it boots up.

Theoretically you can select any game using the melon core and it will bring up the dsi menu.

Hi,

Does the game need to be installed on the nand first ?
Or can you just search for a game file from the dsi menu ?

You select the DSi Ware game from the DS menu and it will boot into the menu. From the menu you can select the game again and it will play like normal.

ok, but how do you make the game appear in the menu ? Do you need to do stuff beforehand to make it appear ? Can you show me a screenshot ?

Sure, I'll post a screen shot later on today. There is no preinstallation required. You can select DS like normal in retrobat find the DSi Ware game in the games menu launch it and it will boot into the DSi menu and from there you can select the DSi ware game again.

Ok here are the screen shots. I didn't have to do anything else to make the game appear.

You select the game as normal
1

Make sure emulator is set to MelonDS
2

Select the game from the Dsi menu
3

Game boots up as normal after that
