Write Protected Flash Drive (USB)
I had installed retrobat on a Patriot 32gb flash drive. Since doing that the drive is now write protected and i cannot remove that write protection to erase/wipe the usb drive. I've tried several tools in windows including diskpart to remove readonly. I've tried Gparted live etc. How did this happen and how can i remove the write protection?

I'm moving.
How is it not related? Your installation write protected my drive! Than makes it more than related!

Re: Write Protected Flash Drive (USB)
the installation does not make any changes to the disk structure, it is basically a file decompression.
The problem caused on your USB key is therefore linked to a problem on your system or hardware

Odd I have no issues with any other USB drives and this particular flash drive is like this only after installing on this flash drive! It was functioning fine prior

32GB USB drives cost between 3-5€, don't see a problem here. Throw it in the bin, it gives you an I/O device error, so it's probably damaged.

100% agree, but I'm not getting any bad information during low level tools to indicate the drive is bad, only that it's write protected since putting and running retrobat on it. It was a perfect functioning drive and still runs retrobat flawlessly without any issues! Id just like to use the drive for something else now since it has both USB-a and usb-c ports at either end

Did you try with any disk management software?
I use MiniTool Partition Wizard since years and it can do a lot of stuff. It's also free.
