[RESOLVED] MAME ROMS BROKE AFTER V5 UPDATE
Hello everyone,, happy holidays and heres to a happy new year. I am having an issue with certain arcade roms after the v5 update. From what I can tell so far this affecting ones such as altbeast, goldaxe, etc...I get the ''''''romset is known but missing files error or it crashes back to the main menu. These were working as they should in v4 using the libretro/mame2016 core (manually changed in advanced options) but this no longer shows up in the menu to manually change and it is not showing as an available core to install. I have tried the "auto" core along with all other options including the custom mame64 from the link along with trying different romsets and none of these games work anymore after the update. Anyone have an idea of what I need to do to either install the libretro/mame2016 core or a different romset? Please forgive my possible noob question but I am still fairly new to retroarch and retrobat so it could just be something I am overlooking or do not know how to do.

Re: [RESOLVED] MAME ROMS BROKE AFTER V5 UPDATE
Hello
For Mame, bios have to be placed now in \bios (no more in roms\mame folder as before).
It could be something...

Hi, thank you for the reply. I have verified my bios are in the correct location and I do see the samples folders within some of the various mame folders, most of which contain files with corresponding rom ID's. I guess I understand how they work but am not sure which romset/ samples are being utilized for v5 or maybe I am on the wrong track altogether. As stated in my original post these games worked before the update using mame2016 but that does not appear to be an option anymore? I thought maybe just adding the altbeast rom to the sample folder(s) would work but still the same results.
EDIT: so after some tinkering I was finally able to get altbeast working under auto core by replacing the rom with the one from a .232 romset. My guess is a whole swap for the .232 will resolve all issues but for now its back to working as it should.
