Help installing duckstation

Once the installation is complete, the game will start and you can play it, but when you close the game, return to emulationstation, and select the game again, the message (The emulator 'duckstation' is not installed.) appears again. You will be asked to install it. How do you determine whether an app is installed?

I am still getting the install guide no matter how many times I try, and after the install I can play the game, and then when I start the game again after it is finished, I get the install guide.

I just installed retrobat 5.3 downloaded from the web on another computer with windows 8.1 to check,
It repeats exactly the same symptoms.
When I play the game after installation and start it up again, the installation guide appears.

Can you
- make a right click on the duckstation .exe file, goes to properties to see version number and post a screen here
- check which update channel you are on Retrobat

We only use Microsoft Defender for our security system.
We have no security software installed on the two PCs we are testing, windows 10 and 8.1

We do not use adguard either.

Yes, they suggest installation every time.
If I do the install each time, duckstation will start and I can play the game, but if I quit, the next time I play, it will ask me to install again!

And have you try also other standalone emulators, to see if the problems occurs ?
