Openbor emulator cannot save settings
Hello everyone, administrator!
After my OPENBOR game was placed in the ROMS folder, the game list appeared! But I cannot change the game settings, and the save also failed! I found that the game only supports opengl video drivers, not SDL, and the filters can only be changed through external settings of retrobat, and then synchronized into the game. This may be a problem with the reshade plugin!
If I put the game in the Windows folder and run it in PC format, then I won't be able to use the decoration box! Just like street of rage remake 5.2, it belongs to PC games and cannot use filters and decorative frames!
Now I hope the administrator can give me a method to save the settings normally!
I come from China and it took me a lot of effort to find this place. I sincerely request your help~ My system is win10 X64, all components are installed! Could the administrator verify this issue?
Finally, thank you for this software. It's really great, thank you all!

Hello getupor!
Some games, such as' Golden Axe Legend 'and' Maximum Carnage Return '!
After trying to save the settings, entering the game again will restore the initial settings. And the progress of the game will also be lost. I couldn't find any archived files in the save folder.
Could you please test it? Thank you!

Re: Openbor emulator cannot save settings
Hello. I am an Openbor game developer and I solved the problem by replacing the "openbor.exe" executable with another version.
However, when running a game it always asks me to update to the version that exists by default in Retrobat. Apart from that everything works fine.

Hello,
Issue is that we had to modify OpenBOR in order to enable automatic controller configuration, as the way the emulator manages controller settings is a mess (wrong axisNR, buttonNR and strange calculation of codes for button mappings). So if controller autoconfiguration is required, RetroBat version is the way to go.
However it is completely possible to add an alternative version and force it !
However i do not understand the "not saving settings" part, can you give an example ? I tested with some games and when launching the game again the settings are kept.

Hello...
Maybe if they work with version 4.0 beta it may be easier with the drivers issue.
Openbor has a "saves" folder where it saves files such as the "high score", the game configuration (buttons, screen filters, etc.). Additionally, a game progress file is automatically created in that folder.
Example: DoubleDragon.pak(game name)
The "saves" files would be the following:
DoubleDragon.hi (scores)
DoubleDragon.cfg (config game)
DoubleDragon.sav (save game).
I hope I can help with this, since I don't speak English. Furthermore, I am not a developer of the engine, but of games, such as:
Captain Commando And The Avengers.
Double Dragon Revolution 1 & 2
Double Dragon 3 Remake.
Double Dragon Gaiden.
and Final Double Dragon.
Greetings
Re: Openbor emulator cannot save settings
Are you sure these are not saved elsewhere in documents or user folder with the version, i'll need to check, there is no reason why they would not be generated...

The game is located in the "paks" subfolder which is in the "openbor" folder.
PD: if it is too complicated or if I am not offering enough help. Don't worry too much. You can still use my method to run Openbor with an external launcher. Greetings
