Chihiro .iso not found by Retrobat
Hello all and again, thank you for Retrobat!
Under Chihiro, Retrobat finds .xbe files but does not recognize .iso files.
I've loaded the file in question manually in xemu, and it works.
I've checked batgui.ini and confirmed the .iso extension is enabled.
I tried disabling and re enabling just in case, no change.
Just me, or is something wrong?

Hi,
The .iso are correctly detected.

Re: Chihiro .iso not found by Retrobat
So I reinstalled, did no work, now even .xbe won't work.
I've been investigating bat.gui and es_systems.cfg, and finally found something, maybe? 2 \\ (\\es_systems...) per screenshot below, but I can't change it under bat.gui, so I have no idea how its like that.
Any idea on how to fix it?

Why do you have an es_systems_chihiro.cfg ?
If you didn't create it then it's not an official retrobat.

Re: Chihiro .iso not found by Retrobat
ok, I've deleted that file, and I see the standard es_systems.cfg now, so that's fine,. The rom folder is correct, all other systems are detected, but this one is not...
I have only .xbe now in bat.gui. Deleted .iso, and even the .xbe won't show now...

Re: Chihiro .iso not found by Retrobat
start by installing an official retrobat version and not a curstom build.

Bad assumption, it is official.

Re: Chihiro .iso not found by Retrobat
under bat.gui, adding an extension, or removing one for this system, creates a system specific cfg file, with the double //
so if I delete es_systems_chihiro.cfg and come back to bat.gui and add the extension .iso for exemple to chihiro, then the path changes to a custom one, with the double slash.
\\es_systems_chihiro.cfg

\\es_systems_chihiro.cfg

Re: Chihiro .iso not found by Retrobat
Chihiro has both .xbe and .iso available and recognized as default.
So if yours don't, either it's not genuine retrobat, either you messed with es_systems file

1 - Again, it is the official Retrobat copy, no need to keep mentioning.
2 - I didn't mess with anything. If you read form the beginning you'll see I was asking for help because .iso was not being recognized, that's it.
I tried disabling and re enabling both .xbe and .iso from retrobat's menu, and from bat.gui, and doing so in bat.gui created an extra entry for chihiro apparently, with the \\, (per screenshot) so at the point, nothing was recognized.
I've since deleted and installed retrobat again 4 or 5 times, (yes official again, as always), and this time, it does see both extensions, but the carbon-master theme doesn't recognize chihiro.. something is just off.

Re: Chihiro .iso not found by Retrobat
I am sorry but carbon recognizes chihiro.
I would suggest not to use the cfg editor in batgui as it seems to mess up things when not used with care.

I don't understand why you go to batgui, it's not necessary. You copy .xbe and .iso compatible with chihiro in "RetroBat\roms\chihiro", you refresh the list of games and that's it

The only reason I used bat.gui is because the .iso games where not being shown, even though they were in the folder. I only did this after, as they should be showing.
I didn't do anything there to begin with, I did just put the games there, like you said, but only .xbe kept being shown.
Anyway, you can delete the thread, this is pointless, I came to ask because something is wrong but all you guys keep telling me is that I downloaded an unofficial version and messed with the configuration. Both of which are false.

You can to check the extensions recognized by the system in: view customisation>Files Extensions
If the extensions are present in this menu, then ES must display them, and if this is not the case then the problem is elsewhere. you can take a text.txt file and change it to text.iso it will be displayed, also with a folder name.iso and it will be displayed.

Re: Chihiro .iso not found by Retrobat
Regarding Batgui, it does generate a path error if you modify a value (this is a bug, and the developer has been informed). The creation of an es_custom in this case is normal to avoid impacting the es_system. However, modifying es_system does not affect the checkboxes in RetroBat. At that point, you completely remove support for the extension, and it no longer appears in the menu. The option, once modified in RetroBat, is written in es_settings.
For example, if I uncheck iso, this line appears in es_settings: <string name="chihiro.HiddenExt" value="iso" /> and if I uncheck both: <string name="chihiro.HiddenExt" value="iso;xbe" />. With this last one, the system will no longer appear in the list. You need to either delete the line and restart RetroBat, or show all systems that have no games in the RetroBat options and then re-check the extensions.
Currently, are you using a new installation of RetroBat? Does the Chihiro system appear in the RetroBat system selection, but only .xbe files are taken into account? If you create a text file or folder by adding .iso, does it not appear?
Can you attach a screenshot of the \RetroBat\roms\chihiro folder?

I'm glad this post has at least been useful for that.
I was originally running a fresh install of retrobat 6.4, without any modifications. Chihiro folder had a subfolder with .xbe files, which were recognized. Upon adding .iso files in another subfolder, is when I saw those would not get recognized.
I then loaded some other random .iso files to test, still nothing.
Checked the menu, both extensions were enabled.
Checked bat.gui, same.
That's when I decided to post here.
As of now, I deleted the whole retrobat folder, and started with a fresh install, and it has solved the issue.

Hello,
What was different from your first fresh install ? As it's impossible that 2 installations done the same way have different behaviours.
What is don't understand is what you mean by "chihiro folder had a subfolder with .xbox files" as retrobat does not provide. Xbe files with original installation.

Hi,
After analysis, the path es_system_... with double \ does not cause any problems; it’s just a visual for information. Indeed, this is normal since it is ES that detects the files. There is another issue, but still non-impacting: if the custom file generated during the extension editing is deleted, then batgui does not update the path to the original file. However, this does not impact ES in any way.
In conclusion, unless otherwise analyzed, it appears that the issue stems from your manipulations or your computer at a given moment.

Nothing was different as far as I know. Its unlikely, not impossible, as it did happen.
Also, if you ever used windows you know that. But thanks for the comments!
And those were my files... not xbox, .xbe.

Likely so. Again, no "manipulations" to start with, simply not detecting .iso while detecing .xbe. reason for the post.
Next time, I'll just start by doing a fresh install rather than posting here!
