[RESOLVED] No sound Wen playing games

I have sound from the intro videos when I enter Retrobat. There were also sounds from the video preview of games. However when I enter a game there was no sound at all when playing. Any advice on how to resolve the issue?

The issue was resolved after following the method suggested by FAQ on reinstalling Direct X.
