MAME Bios location

"BIOS files must be placed at the root of the \bios folder of your RetroBat installation"

why do mame bios files have to be placed in the root of the \bios directory? Wasn't it more logical to put them for example...in the \bios\mame directory...?

I think it's more "logical" to have ALL BIOS files in the same place than having them around in specific folders, would probably confuse a lot of users where to put the files.

we think the same way, that's why I said to at least put all the mame bios in a directory (retrobat\bios\mame\), in order to simplify updates

Many bioses are used also by other systems / emulators (eg neogeo.zip), so we decided to put them at the root bios folder, in order not to have to duplicate these.

Additionnaly, some users share their bios folder between frontends (batocera, emudeck...), so we keep consistency between these.
