What does RetroBat use on backend for video driver (software, d3d or opengl?)
Can I force RetroBat to use opengl and how can it be done?
Merci,

EmulationStation uses OpenGL & it can't be changed.
Emulators... Use... What they implement. Sometimes OpenGL, sometimes DX, sometimes Vulkan. As you know, we don't develop the emulators...

Interesting, thank you @f.caruso - i was wondering why there is 3 emulationstation templates es_systems.default.cfg, es_systems.d3d.cfg and es_systems.opengl.cfg
Everytime i make modification to these files i can't tell which one it actually uses . Good insights doe, merci.

Hello, it depends if emulators force the video driver they use or on the video driver defined globally in retrobat.ini or defined by systems or by games in ES menu.

Hi Kayl,
But the contents of the 3 es_systems templates is actually the same. Was the decision to separate the files made to support standalone emulators with different parameters per driver?
Just curious to understand their purpose and/or decision history, given content is the same currently.
Take care!

Hi,
Not strictly the same. it's just a lazy way to avoid parsing xml files. D3d add retroarch angle entry, opengl remove it and batocera one use relative path to batocera folder.
The future update will have this reorganized. Any users will be able to create their own config mode in addition to the existent ones. That means being able to make as much configuration profiles as wanted. I "unhardcoded" many parameters to enable users to inject their own preset depending on ConfigMode number. In config files, you will be able to list new roms and emulators folder to be automatically created, add and copy templates config files, parse and inject values from json files.
Also, the EmulationStation developper added a brand new "pad to key" engine, usefull with dosbox and the others computerosaurus.
And other new features...
So be patient, next version will be released when ready. Soon.
