How to use hbmame roms?

Hello!Thanks for the developers
I'm using 5.0 stable version
I found there is hbmame folder in the .\roms
but when I put some hbmame roms in the folder,it can only run by the mame cores
and the hackrom can only run as the original rom,how to make it right?
Does it requir specific emulator?(hbmame)cuz I didn't found it in the emulator folder,
should I add new hbmame folder in the .\emulator and instal the standalone emulator in it?

by the way I have another two questions
Is there any method to hide one system?I put many roms that I rarely play them,could I hide the hole system？
Is there any plan to add vita3K in Retrobat？it works pretty good by recently versions

You can use hbmame roms with Mame standalone (see here

If you use merged roms, it will be ok.

For your others questions :
- instead of hidding systems, you can add the games you play more in favorite, or also start Retrobat on the system you want to.
- yes, Vita3K will be added in the future, now that is "mature"

hello,I've tried the method here
but retrobat doesn't recognize hack part in the merged rom，only base rom show in the list，it can only show while using standalone instead of Retrobat
how to make it work in retrobat？

They should be on a format handled by Retrobat.
What does your HBMame roms folder look likes ?

Hi,
In order to play hacks/variants, you should use a non-merged romset.
Or you could try to just create an empty file and name it xxxx.zip (replace xxxx with the official variant name).
And try and run the empty one from retrobat, mame should automatically get the roms from inside the main one.

Now can run the hack roms from retrobat
but here's another issuse
Mame64's list doesn't have hackrom in its list,hack roms only shows in the hbmame standalone

This should be because of the incorrect romset. Because HBmame is merged in Mame64 now

So,to make hacks work
Should I put newest Hbmame in the .\emulators\Mame64\ instead of the original Mame64?
or only use the romset packcage?How to do switch that?

You should download the latest mame standalone to see if it recognizes them .

The version coming with retrobat is a version that predates hbmame integration...

As we do not have features for mame standalone, it will not be an issue

I tried many methods to make Mame recognize hackrom
but it won't work（version 0.251）no hackrom in the Mame list,the only show in the hbmame
does it really support hack roms？or I should modify something like romlist？

I use【mslug】as test rom.
It works fine in hbmame standalone
It's merged rom and I can run roms inside the main one by using empty folder “****.zip”(thaks for tartifless)
but mame64 even newest vesion 0.251 doesn't recognize the rom in the standalone,neither run from retrobat

I even tried to run hbmame by add line

it can open only the emulator but not the game,have to select the rom manuall
I know adding emulators is not that easy by code,I just try to test it

I tested with rom ddonpach.zip that inside has the following:


In order to make it work:
1) Ensure that the rom is correct in HBMame software ==> it must appear green and correctly audited
2) Extract the hack you want to see in RetroBat from the archive and create a zip of the hack:

3) The inside of the zip contains the files from the rom hack:


4) Now from RetroBat, just run the hack rom:


5) And there you go:

Hello team!
After testments of many roms
It seems LibroMame core is not able to support all the hack roms,even famous game like metal slug
I wish the team could add hbmame standalone as insurance
