Question about the entire Controller system

I tried Retrobat for the first time with the previous version & immediately stopped using it because of how messed up the controller system is for it. I seen that a new version just came out so I figured I'd try this one out and the exact same mess is still present.

I have multiple controllers that I use for different consoles. NES & SNES I use the nes & snes classic controllers from the classic consoles. Sega I use a retrobit sega saturn controller, ps I use a ps4, gamecube I use a usb gamecube controller etc.

For what ever reason when I configure these controllers in Emulationstation it does not carry over to the game. If autoconfig is on it maps them horrendously. If autoconfig is off it still does not map them properly.

I am unable to get two controllers working at once for 2 player games. I just don't understand what is the purpose of mapping controllers in emulationstation if they do not carry over to games. What is the point of the Player assignments option if that does absolutely nothing in the game.

Controllers inputs are the very basic of emulation so I do not understand how the system got so messed up. Batocera, RetroPie, Hyperpie, launchbox have no issue at all setting up controllers. What am I missing for Retrobat? Thanks

We are not bots, so rules of politess still exist here. We could imagine with the tone of your message that you're highly superior to the Retrobat team, but we consider that this kind of basic thing called courtesy have to be preserved...

Then, we have encounters some troubles with the latest SDL version. So you can try using this fix, then you can delete the files "es_input.cfg" and "es_last_input.cfg" in \emulationstation\.emulationstation\, and remap controllers again.

If your controllers are SDL one instead of Xinput, you can also set them like that from the Retrobat menu.
