Controller partly working

Issue #1
I have followed the installation procedure and mapped my X-Box controller.  Everything seems to be working fine ie navigating the menus and going into my emulators, but when I try and select my game with my controller nothing happens.  I can click the game with my mouse and it launches, but not when I click the "A" button (AKA south) on my controller.  The bottom of the screen says that the A/South button is mapped to "GAME OPTIONS (HOLD)" but that also does not seem to be working.

I downloaded and overwrote es_input.cfg as suggested in Known Issues & Fixes, but this did not help.

Note: The A button work in game, and also works from the main menu.  for example I can select NES and go into my games list, but then cannot select a game with A/South

Issue #2
If I launch my game via clicking with a mouse, I cannot then exit the game.  I mapped my hotkey button to select and I'm expecting to push select + start to close my games but that does not work either.  I am having to alt+tab and then close the retroarch window by right-clicking and exiting from the window's bar on the bottom.

Issue #3
The X/West button does not do anything.  I'm expecting it to launch the "SEARCH/RANDOM" action.

I'm not sure how to fix these issues

I think you are the only one with this issue, and we are all using xbox controllers...

Where exactly does A do nothing ? Can you send a screenshot ?

Did you try with any other controllers?

Maybe Steam is opened and steam input is missing up with the buttons

Steam was causing some issues (launching steam etc), but I completely closed steam and the launch games with "A" issue persists.

That's impossible that it does not act when in the gamelist but acts when in the list of systems...

Can you show your retrobat\emulationstation folder content ?

There must be missing files or issue with your installation...
Maybe your antivirus software that deleted some stuff, or the visualc++ prerequisites that are not installed.

A in emulationstation has exactly the same behaviour as a mouse click, and this is standard ES, and it works like that in emudeck, batocera, retrobat, es-de and all ES-based frontends.

Can you check that the games in x:\retrobat\roms\nes are the ones referenced in your gamelist.xml file and also show us the nes section of your es_systems.cfg located in retrobat\emulationstation\\.Emulationstation ?

Ans additionally also send us the es_input.cfg file from the same folder...

Has anyone used an Xarcade controller for games? It partly works. I even tried the mapping
