D pad issues nes switch controller

Hello , I hope everyone is doing well!

I have been trying to get the nes switch online controller to work.
In emulation station/Retrobat the controller works no problem once I set up the controller.

When I load up a game the buttons work but the dpad does not.
When I go into retroarch dpad doesnt work unless I map the controller.
but as soon as I try launching through retrobat the mapped controls are lost again, auto config overrides the saved controls in retroarch?

I can use a separate standalone Retroarch install and the controller is auto detected and works without any extra steps.

I'm thinking my issue might be something to do with the auto config in emulation station?
would disabling auto config be the correct way to fix this?

If so what would the negatives be to doing this?

No, there is no problem for disabling auto config, but you will loose all benefits of this functionnality, and have to map your controler for every systems.

Before doing that, can you try to download the following library
https://www.libsdl.org/release/SDL2-2.0.16-win32-x86.zip
Extract the SDL2.dll file to \RetroBat\emulationstation

Sorry for my late reply, I was still trying different things to get it to work with auto config enabled.

unfortunately updating the library didn't work.

As a work around disabling auto config does allow me to set the controls and use the controller that way.

It's all good, turning off autoconfig, is good enough work around for me
