Can you compile Retrobat for SteamOs? I really want this version of EmulationStation on this handheld. (I know about EmulationstationDE but it is worse)

Hi,

SteamOS is a Linux distribution, and it would be necessary to compile Emulationstation, and all emulators that work with Windows to be compatible with linux, it's a titanic job.

Retroarch and its cores are allready in linux. pcsx2,duckstation,citra,yuzu,ppsspp,etc are also compiled for linux. we just need emulationstation recompiled (i think :/ ).

Fortunately who you are here to show us that it is simple and that it is enough just to compile...

Hello,

RetroBat is only for Windows. We don't plan to make RetroBat compatible with other OS.

I think the best way to use RetroBat on Linux is to make it compatible with Wine.

if all you are going to be doing is emulation
Google "Batocera for SteamDeck"

if you want to maintain steam library (PC game functionality)
Google "EmuDeck"

It's a good fix for now. I was trying to port everything I could from retrobat to a linux version of ES. Even after rewriting just about every config (linux handles folders different, there is no C:/ etc its home, root etc. complete rewrite, to much for right now. I went with EmuDeck, have not tested batocera out yet.

personally I still prefer Retrobat, Its just easier to setup, glad my 40TB gaming rig is running windows 10

Batocera works but it needs another boot partition/sdcard. Emudeck uses EmulationStation-DE that does not have the same directories for roms/videos/screenshots etc.

This was another thing I was going to mention.

As for batocera, yes it is a bit different, steamOS 3 should have dualboot capabilities shortly if it's not already there. So as Tartifless said load up windows (you will need to upgrade the m.2 they use 2230s. The short ones so a good size say 2tb is going to run you 350)

Anyways dual boot windows just for the retrobat. That's actually what I plan to do as soon as my 2tb wd 2230 shows up.
